AGMT Certification

Architectural Glass & Metal Technician (AGMT) Certification: Validation and recognition of world-class glazing knowledge, skills, and abilities

What is AGMT certification?

AGMT is North America’s ONLY credential for architectural glass and metal technicians. The AGMT program is a personnel certification featuring an independent, third-party assessment of an experienced glazing installer’s knowledge, skills, and abilities through written and hands-on assessments. Because products, systems, and procedures are ever-changing, in order to maintain the AGMT credential, certified technicians must renew certification every four years.

Who are AGMT candidates?

Experienced glazing supervisors and technicians are eligible to apply. The program is not a training program, nor intended for inexperienced technicians. Among other prerequisites, eligible candidates must demonstrate at least 7,500 hours (within five years) of glazing-related work experience and must possess OSHA-10 (or Canadian equivalent).

What does AGMT evaluate?

Candidates undergo comprehensive written and physical testing in seven major competency areas:

  • Understanding principles of glazing theory and glazing-specific safety
  • Knowledge and ability to work with tools and equipment of the trade
  • Ability to effectively navigate and correctly interpret construction documents
  • Capability to properly handle glass and panels and understand insulating glass
  • Working knowledge of and ability to properly install glazing systems
  • Understanding and application of sealants, gaskets, and ancillary materials
  • Knowledge of quality controls and failure prevention

What does AGMT impact?

AGMT improves safety, minimizes risk, and adds value – for certified technicians and the contractors that employ them. The AGMT program emphasizes the factors that minimize construction defects and failures and produce results that better conform to customer requirements.

Having certified glaziers lets our customers and end-users know we have some of the most talented and committed glaziers in the industry. This ensures the end-user of receiving the quality product they are looking for.”
